Update: How many different places do you find captioning each day... or notice a
need for it? Talk to someone about it, and let them know!
A lobby television? A website? An audio file being played in a lecture? A homework assignment where you have to play an audio file or a video? At your local movie theater? At your local church service?
Captioning... it's not just for people who are deaf or hard of hearing! Many people are surprised at how helpful captioning is in various situations.
A loud or noisy environment? A fast lecture? Someone learning English as a second language? An informative, public, educational display? Someone who learns better if they can read something while hearing it? Someone with social challenges who needs a buffer zone in direct interactions? Someone with low vision? Someone who needs to process information visually or control the processing rate of information?
Captioning -- ask for it!
In this technology era, there are new ways to access captioning. Find out what's available on your favorite devices. There are new ways to create it and use it every day!
I've just completed a post-production captioning course that featured best practices. My local educational institution is beginning a pilot program to caption media. I am excited about the increased awareness of captioning and about ongoing efforts to provide quality captioning in many settings. Look for captioning around you and encourage providers to utilize best practices to create quality captioning. See the Captioning Key at http://www.dcmp.org/captioningkey/ to learn more about this important aspect of captioning.
Please note: For now, please excuse errors you may notice on the blog. I thought that perhaps a hacker played around with the blog's content. I then suspected the Google translator widget was causing these changes --new errors and changes would appear before my eyes. I have removed the translator temporarily until I can find one that works.
I will have to make time to proofread the entire blog. Ugh!.... and UGH again! :-/
Meanwhile, if you're a C-Print® captionist, if you are interested in C-Print®, or if you have questions about C-Print®, please feel free to email me.
Enjoy your summer!

Welcome to See Print... or is it C-Print®? With C-Print® captioning, users see what people are saying in text. C-Print® is versatile enough for users to "see" C-Print® text in new ways. Users may *listen* to it with an audio reader, *feel* it with a tactile braille reader, *supplement* it with a digital camera or smart pen, or *access* it via a PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet, etc. C-Print® is not just for people who may be deaf or hard of hearing anymore! I invite you to learn more!
"We differ, blind and seeing,
not in the nature of our handicap,
but in the understanding and idealism
we put into the art of living.
It is only when we put imagination
and feeling behind the senses
that they attain their full value."
